NiNi! Crossing feathers

NiNi! Crossing feathers

Short film, est. 25 min.

How does it feel when your feelings grow feathers? Do you know the sensual dimension of your no? How do you feel when your body and your feathers say yes?

Queer love is not learnt in isolation in NiNi! Crossing feathers, but together in a magical parallel world in the Lobau, a nature reserve and recreation area in Vienna. A place of productive chaos and care, where people and objects grow feathers. Feathers that set boundaries, give and receive consent and recognise feelings as valid.

In the film, a group of car mechanics meet regularly at their favourite secret spot in Lobau. Together, they have founded a car care club (Car Caring Club Queering Lobau) to look after their cars in a sustainable way, exchange expertise and celebrate each other. The white ex-car mechanic* NiNi and Toni the car are taking part for the first time. But this year everything is different as they are watched from afar by the white amateur circus performer RoRo* and her friends. Their colourful feathers adjust to each other in a joint dance until they set off together.

The exposé development of ‘NiNi! Crossing feathers’ was supported by the mentoring programme GPC (The Golden Pixel Cooperative)-LAB 2023-24 and was dramaturgically accompanied by Christine Lang and Caroline Bobek.
